Hisham has 40 years of R&D and business management experience in the semiconductor and microelectronics industry. Prior to founding SWS, Hisham was with Memscap as President for Asia and the Middle East, overseeing business development activities in the region. Before that, he was Executive Vice President and President of Memscap Egypt, during which time he established and managed an R&D center focusing on RF IC design and MEMS component design for optical applications. Hisham was also the co-founder and General Manager of Anacad Egypt, which was later acquired by Mentor Graphics Corporation. In his role with Mentor Graphics, he managed the Egypt development center and was later appointed as Chief Scientist in the Analog/Mixed-Signal Simulation Division, where he started an initiative for analog design re-use. Hisham obtained his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Electrical Engineering, both with the highest honors, from Ain Shams University. Hisham received his Ph.D. degree in Microelectronics from the National Polytechnic Institute, Grenoble, France. His research work on sub-micron transistor reliability won the Best Thesis Award by the French CNRS (National Scientific Research Center). Hisham has been a Professor of Microelectronics at Ain-Shams University, Cairo. He has authored and co-authored two books, several patents, and more than 100 scientific publications in international journals and conferences. He serves on the board of directors of the National Science and Technology Development Agency (STDF) and the Information Technology Development Agency (ITIDA) of Egypt.
Bassam Saadany, co-founder and CTO of Si-Ware Systems. Bringing MEMS products to market, at Si-Ware his group developed the world’s first single-chip FT spectrometer. With more than 25 years of experience in the photonics and semiconductor industry, his background includes R&D as well as business management. Before co-founding Si-Ware, he has been with MEMScap, MentorGraphics, and Enppi. He obtained his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering from Ain Shams University, Cairo, and a Ph.D. in MEMS and Nanostructures from the University of Paris XI, France. He is an author and co-author of more than 100 publications in international journals and conferences, as well as holding more than 50 patents. Bassam is the principal inventor of SiMOSTTM technology enabling micro fabrication of optical systems on a single chip.
With more than 25 years of engineering leadership experience prior to joining Si-Ware, Ahmed was Chief Information Officer at siParadigm where he led a variety of Engineering and Technical Operations teams who designed and built state-of-the-art healthcare products serving millions of patients in the United States. Prior to that, Ahmed lead an engineering team of 800 with engagements in Vezeeta and ITWorx while serving global customers like Vodafone, Otis Elevators, Carrier and United Technologies in over 15 countries. With a primary focus on service excellence, Ahmed certified his engineering organizations with several CMMi and ISO certificates for consistent delivery and system security. Ahmed holds Masters degrees in Computer Science and Business Administration as well as a Bachelor of Computer Science from the American University in Cairo where he has also taught several technology courses.
Dr. Mostafa joined Si-Ware from the start as the company’s first engineer, leading the R&D team to develop the world’s first single-chip FT spectrometer. With 20 years of experience in the semiconductor industry, his background includes optics, MEMS, spectroscopy, and data analytics. He has also worked with Si-Ware partners to develop different products that serve the agriculture, food, beauty, and personal care products industries. Mostafa obtained his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering from Ain Shams University, Cairo, in collaboration with Interuniversity Microelectronics Centre (IMEC) in Leuven, Belgium. He also holds an MBA degree in project management and a DBA degree in international business from the International Business Academy of Switzerland (IBAS) and Vern University. Mostafa also obtained a product management degree from Stanford University. He holds 16 patents and patent applications, has authored/co-authored more than 30 publications, and has contributed to a book.
Dr. Deutsch is a senior engineering executive, entrepreneur, and recognized expert in QCL, MEMS, FTIR, and spectroscopy. He brings over 20 years of experience leading the strategic development of diverse new and existing technologies and bringing disruptive handheld and miniature spectroscopy products to market. He possesses the rare combination of innovative technical leadership with a strong business acumen with over 10 patents in novel spectroscopy technologies and systems. Dr. Deutsch received his B.A. in Physics with a minor in Computer Science from Vassar College and his S.M. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT with a focus in MEMS and Optics.
Dr. Yasser Sabry brings more than 17 years of R&D and engineering experience in the fields of spectral sensors and systems, MEMS/nano technology, micro-photonics and artificial intelligence. He is the principal inventor of NeoSpectra micro optical solution and the leader in developing its core technology. Before Si-Ware, Dr. Yasser worked with Mentor Graphic Inc. and ITIDA in addition to providing technical mentorship for many startups. Dr. Yasser authored/co-authored about 200 scientific publications, 20 patents and 6 books/chapters. He holds the TWAS-ARO Young Arab Scientist prize and the State Encouragement Award in Engineering Science. He is a member and a senior member in many professional societies such as Optica, IEEE, SPIE, SAS and EYAS as well as being on the industry advisory board of several electronics engineering and nanotechnology faculties in Egypt. Dr. Yasser obtained his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering from Ain Shams University and his Ph.D. from Université Paris-Est (currently Université Gustave Eiffel).
Mohamed Elarabawy brings over 18 years of experience in electrical engineering, product engineering and manufacturing. He brought several products intro production and owned production delivery to world class customers. He contributed in the 1st world card-size spectrometer and all its successive generations in collaboration with several of the world top suppliers and contract manufacturers. Handling product supply chain involving suppliers across the world, production planning, scheduling and negotiations with suppliers. Before joining Si-Ware, Mohamed Elarabawy joined Siemens EDA (formerly Mentor Graphics Corp.).

Prior to entering the analytical instrumentation industry, Bob started his career at a leading plant biotech company where he initiated a successful NIR program to support a global plant breeding program. Most recently, Joe was CEO of venture-backed Triformix, a leading supplier of fiber-optic and disposable medical products, leading the sale of the company to Biorad. Previously, he was COO of synthetic sapphire market leader, Thermal Technology, where he established a $580M development program with Apple and led the sale of the company to GTAT. Joe was also part of the management team that led the spinout and eventual public offering of the wireless division of Conexant, now Skyworks. Joe was also the General Manager of the STATS ChipPAC, a $1.6B contract electronics manufacturing business with 60+ Fortune 500 customers developing high-volume handset, memory, PC, and broad line consumer products using leading-edge technology across eight factories throughout Asia. He holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, as well as an Executive M.B.A. Certificate from the University of California, Irvine.
