Saudi Arabia – 11 August 2026
Si-Ware Systems, a global leader in MEMS sensing and semiconductor technologies, and Saudi Electronic Materials Company (SEMC), a Saudi-based developer of semiconductor materials and fabrication technologies, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the advancement of MEMS sensing technologies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The partnership establishes a framework for joint development, fabrication, and commercialization of next-generation sensors, supporting the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 goals to build a competitive semiconductor ecosystem and position Saudi Arabia as a regional hub for artificial intelligence and advanced technologies.

With more than 20+ years of MEMS innovation and 130+ patents, Si-Ware Systems will contribute its expertise in MEMS design, system architecture, and sensor innovation, while SEMC will leverage its semiconductor materials capabilities and fabrication expertise to explore localized manufacturing and process development within Saudi Arabia.

“Saudi Arabia is taking major steps toward building a world-class semiconductor and AI ecosystem. Through this collaboration with SEMC, we aim to bring advanced MEMS sensing technologies closer to the region while supporting the Kingdom’s efforts to localize high-impact semiconductor innovation.” Dr. Hisham Haddara, CEO of Si-Ware Systems, stated. “Partnering with SEMC creates an opportunity to accelerate the development of next-generation sensors that power intelligent systems across robotics, drones, and advanced industrial applications.”
Dr. Mohamed Elharbi, CEO of Saudi Electronic Materials Company (SEMC), also commented: “This collaboration represents an important step toward strengthening the local  semiconductor ecosystem. By combining Si-Ware’s MEMS design expertise with SEMC’s fabrication and materials capabilities, we aim to enable new sensing technologies while advancing local innovation and high-technology manufacturing in the Kingdom.”

These technologies serve as foundational components for emerging physical AI systems, enabling machines to understand motion, environment, and material composition. The collaboration will focus on several sensing technologies including MEMS inertial sensors such as accelerometers, gyroscopes, and inertial measurement units (IMUs); as well as near-infrared (NIR) and mid-infrared (MIR) spectral sensors. These technologies serve as foundational components for emerging intelligent systems powering robotics, drones, autonomous navigation platforms, industrial automation, and next-generation material sensing applications.

The partnership will also include joint research initiatives, knowledge transfer programs, and technical collaboration aimed at strengthening regional capabilities in advanced semiconductor and sensing technologies while supporting the growth of high-tech industries across the Middle East.
